Each of department has its own unique challenges and the scope for progression is huge. Here's a brief overview to whet your appetite:
Buying - You'll be sourcing new products from around the world, negotiating trading terms, developing our own brand range and driving promotional activity.
Operations - Driving improvements in efficiency within the business, you'll take responsibility for loss prevention, health and safety, and space planning.
Marketing - Responsibilities will include marketing analysis, promotional activities, advertising, production of promotional literature and signage and the management of our customer database.
Finance - Financial accounting and reporting, financial controlling, invoice control, pensions administration and fleet management will all be elements of your role.
Information Technology/Information Management - You will be involved with systems development, maintenance of infrastructure, database administration, user support, telecommunications, analysing business requirements to design appropriate IT solutions and IT project management.
Human Resources and Payroll - This varied department covers everything from recruitment and selection, management development, research and policy formulation to employee relations, training and SAP payroll.
Logistics/Supply Chain Management - As well as developing, implementing and continuously improving logistic structures you will ensure the accuracy of warehouse and store stock files.
Facilities Management/Construction - Work areas include new store development, controlling refurbishment programmes and managing maintenance and technical installations.
Internal Audit - You will have a range of responsibilities including administering audits to determine store and head office compliance, identifying high risk activities and designing appropriate testing of controls, and providing advice and feedback.
Legal/Quality Assurance - Providing legal and commercial advice, you will work to eliminate or reduce business risks, ensure products are safe to use before delivery into stores and oversee product quality and technical issues at distribution centres.
